The GIFFT Red Blend is smooth and flavorful, with a core of red fruit and structure that carries through from beginning to end. The 2011 GIFFT Red Blend is a blend of 42% Merlot, 25% Petite Sirah, 12% Syrah, 10% Petit Verdot, and a small percentage of other varieties including Tempranillo, Tinta Cao, Tannat and Touriga Nacional. 

To add complexity and retain character, each grape variety was fermented separately. During the blending process just prior to bottling, the proportion of each varietal was chosen to accentuate the richness of flavor and maximize depth, complexity, mouthfeel and finish. The addition of a small amount of Muscat Canelli and Riesling, which are white wine grapes, may seem a little odd but it is actually a common practice in red blends to bring out the mid-palate and enhance the fruitiness.
