Champagne Taittinger was established in 1931 by Pierre Taittinger and is one of the most extensive estates in the Champagne district. The Taittinger’s chose Chardonnay as the signature grape of the house for its lightness, finesse and elegance.
The Taittinger Brut La Française is produced from select Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Meunier grapes grown in esteemed microclimates of the viticultural area of Champagne. Pinot Noir lends body, structure and power; Pinot Meunier provides a supple, round fruitiness to the wine; and Chardonnay contributes elegance, finesse, crispness and delicacy to the blend, as well as a degree of structure and longevity. Chardonnay approximates 40% of the finished wine, over twice the percentage of Chardonnay used in the standard cuvées of most houses. This Champagne is aged for 3 to 4 years, as opposed to the required minimum of 15 months in order to develop body and bouquet.
The Taittinger Brut La Française has fine, persistent strands of bubbles, a pale golden color and notes of citrus, apple and toasted brioche. While this elegant wine can be enjoyed as an aperitif, it is very food friendly and pairs well with dishes ranging from cheeses, caviar or shellfish.
