Domaine de Triennes Sainte Fleur Viognier, Provence, France

Domaine de Triennes represents a collaboration between two of Burgundy’s greatest names: Jacques Seysses, founder of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine, co-owner of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. In 1989 they purchased a neglected 46 hectare estate in Provence after being impressed by the site’s Southern exposure; the clay and limestone soils similar to the great terroirs of Burgundy and St. Emilion; and the climate with its warm days and cool nights, a characteristic of the most exceptional appellations.

Viognier is a profoundly aromatic white grape presumed to be ancient, possibly originating in Dalmatia (present day Croatia) and then brought to France's Rhone Valley by the Romans. In the Southern Rhone wine region, the grape is often blended with Roussanne, Marsanne, Grenache Blanc and Rolle. While originally popular in France, Viognier has been planted much more extensively since the early 1990's and now boasts significant plantings in both California and Australia.

The Domaine Triennes Sainte Fleur Viognier is fermented entirely in stainless steel to preserve its fresh fruity aromas and flavors. It has an aromatic perfume of apricot, honeysuckle, white flowers and honey and strikes a beautiful balance between aromatic richness, crisp acidity and mineral structure.
