Saint Cosme Côtes du Rhône, Southern Rhône, France

Saint Cosme, located north of the village of Gigondas, is the most ancient estate in France’s Southern Rhone wine region. The estate is run by its passionate and talented proprietor and vigneron, Louis Barruol who represents the 14th generation of his family to hold this position. The estate vineyards consist of 15 hectares of old vines (around 60 years old) and the viticulture is all done organically.

This wine is 100% Syrah, a dark-skinned grape grown throughout the world which has a long documented history in the Rhône region of southeastern France. The grapes for this wine are destemmed at harvest and fermented entirely in small stainless steel tanks. 

This wine is an inky purple color with aromas of red and black fruit and violets. On the palate, this full bodied red exhibits flavors of juicy red currant, blackberry, plum and licorice as well as chewy tannins and a lengthy finish. This wine pairs perfectly with dishes including Beef Bourguignon, Roasted Lamb and Pork. Drink now - 2018.
