Michele Chiarlo Barbera d'Asti Superiore "La Court," Piedmont, Italy

The Barbera d'Asti Superiore Nizza "La Court," is Michele Chiarlo's single vineyard Barbera made from 50 year old vines and only in the best vintages. Fermentation takes place in large oak casks followed by an additional 12 months of oak aging resulting in a wine with structure and balance as well as appealing aromas and flavors of ripe cherry, plum and spice with a tangy acidity and lengthy finish. This very special Barbera will continue to benefit from additional time in the bottle and will pair beautifully with Italian cuisine such as aged goat cheese with black truffle, Bucatini all'Amatriciana and Osso Bucco.
