When Dr. Robert Pamplin, one of Oregon’s most forward-thinking philanthropists and businessmen, purchased the historic Chateau Benoit Winery in 1999, his vision was to create wines that reflected his passion for excellence. Known today as Anne Amie, this winery is located in Oregon’s Yamhill-Carlton District on the steep hillsides of the Chehalem Mountains, nestled in the verdant Willamette Valley. Pinot Noir, Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc form the heart of the winery which is complemented by old vine Estate Riesling and Müller Thurgau, planted in 1979.
This wine is made from 100% estate grown Müller-Thurgau, a white grape that's a crossing of Riesling and Madeleine Royale created by Hermann Müller in 1882. The fruit is hand-picked, whole cluster pressed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wine is then aged on its lees for 4 months before bottling to add richness and body. This wine has a bright, lemon yellow color and lovely aromas of honeysuckle, star fruit, and key lime. On the palate, the viscous mouthfeel reveals notes of citrus, white peach and gala apple and a delightfully dry finish.
