CVNE (Compañía Vinicola del Norte de España) is one of the most renowned and historic bodegas in all of Spain. Founded in 1879 by the Real de Asúa brothers, Eusebio and Raimundo, the company has been an integral part of the Rioja region’s ascendance in the world of fine wine. The 3 family wineries perfectly symbolize the 3 essential principles that have always characterized the CVNE philosophy: the respect of heritage, the embrace of new technology & the valorization of terroir.
The 2011 Cune Crianza is a blend of 80% Tempranillo, 10% Mazuelo and 10% Garnacha from Rioja Alta vineyards. The wine is fermented in stainless steel tanks and then aged in American oak barrels for 1 year. The result is a wine with a bright cherry color and aromas of red berries and spice. On the palate it has a velvety mouthfeel, lively spice notes and bright acidity and also happens to pair nicely with food.
90 points Wine Advocate: "The 2010 CUNE Crianza is extremely aromatic, with clean raspberry aromas and the benefit of one more year in bottle, which provided it with some more complexity in the form of dried roses and sweet spice notes. The palate is velvety, really easy to drink, with clean flavors and good persistence. I liked it better than the 2011. It’s superb for its price tag! Drink 2014-2017." - LG
