This wine represents a collaboration between famed fashion designer Roberto Cavalli and his son Tommaso whose hands-on approach to managing his family’s 70-acre Tenuta Degli Dei estate has helped result in an acclaimed portfolio of wines. Winemaker Carlo Ferrini, Wine Enthusiast’s 2007 Winemaker of the Year, crafted this blend of Bordeaux grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot) grown on Tuscan soil. The result is a wine with enticing aromas of black fruit, violet and spice followed on the palate by black currant, black tea and cassis with a velvety, luxurious mouthfeel…the vinous equivalent of a cashmere pashmina.
90 points Wine Spectator: "Violet, black currant and cherry flavors are supported by a firm, vibrant structure. This is saturated and intense, with a lingering aftertaste of candied berry and spice. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Best from 2014 through 2021. 448 cases imported." –BS
92 points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate: "The 2009 Tenuta degli Dei boasts gorgeous depth and purity. Sweet red cherries, licorice, mint and flowers are woven together beautifully in this centered, impeccably poised wine. Sweet floral notes reappear on the attractive, polished finish. The flagship Tenuta degli Dei is 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 15% Petit Verdot. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2019."
